I'm a NO to universal health care 08/12/2009
This site sums it up nicely http://www.balancedpolitics.org/universal_health_care.htm (I agree with all the "no" reasons especially 1,2,3,8,12, 16) I just see this whole issue as people wanting something for nothing. I'm a responsible American citizen. Both my huband and I work and pay for our own private insurance. Somehow we are doing fine and have health insurance. What's the big deal? Why is it that ALL these people don't have health insurance and they need to get it from the government? Health care is like any other thing in life...You gotta take control of your life and make it in the world. Don't expect freebies because you think it's owed to you. I wrote a lot more in this post but decided to delete it as I don't want to start a huge debate over this. I'm just stating my view on the matter. Studies show that the large percentage of Americans are happy with their health care situation. So all this is for that small percentage of Americans who are unhappy? Why don't we turn our attention to bigger issues? Dog 08/05/2009
Magic has been testing me lately. He learned how to knock the gate down that keeps him in the kitchen. He knocks it down and has the run of the house while we are at work. Came home one day last week to find the bedroom a mess. Now we make sure the bedroom doors are shut before leaving. However the biggest problem is that he will NOT come when I tell him to. He'll come only if he feels like it. Today when I was calling him in for the night, he flipped out and ran and ran and ran around the yard. Then he'd get within inches of me and run away again. I was going to let him throw his little energy fit and when he was done I'd call him in. But then he ran straight into our bedroom sliding screen door and burst a hole right through it. Then hid under the bed and would not come out as much as I tried to get him. He's in the crate now. I think I'll leave him in there for a while. He's overall a good dog and he knows to sit and wait for his food. He knows sit, down and roll over. If I tell him to, when I open the door he'll sit and stay until I tell him it's ok to go out the door. I am practicing "come" but if he doesn't want to, he doesn't obey. Hmm. I'm the pack leader and he should listen to me. He thinks it's all a game. I'll continue to practice it with him on the leash but once he's off the leash, and if he doesn't come, how do I make him? That's a head scratcher. Bday 07/31/2009
Happy Birthday To Me! BBQ 07/21/2009
Last Saturday we hosted a BBQ at our house. Invited were all of Rob's co-workers and some clients. I think there were around 18 people or so that showed up. A good time overall. Here's a few pictures. I'm not in any of them because I was the one taking the pics. Cool illusion 07/06/2009
This is a really neat illusion. The blue and the green colors are the same color! It seems hard to believe but it is. The picture is a green spiral. The pink and orange lines make it confusing and you see the spiral as two seperate colors: blue and green. So this picture only has 3 colors in it. Neat. 4th 07/04/2009
Happy 4th Of July! ESP 06/26/2009
I thought to myself a few days ago... Something is going to happen soon that will dominate all news coverage for the day. Then yesterday on my way into work I thought to myself... Today feels like a day that something will happen that will dominate all news coverage for the day. I thought maybe it would be an earthquake or something locally here in LA. And then Michael Jackson died. Health Care Reform? 06/24/2009
I didn't get to listen to Obama's health care reform speech and only read a little bit about it. But what I got out of it is that the government wants to be able to provide health care for everyone. They can then boast about how great they are for caring about the people and their health. A good idea on the surface. However, at what cost? Will this lead to government takeover of health care? The eventual elimination of private health insurance? And, how will the government afford such a thing? Hmmm..... by taking it from us by raising taxes perhaps? The insurance plans will probably be lousy too. People will opt not to have them yet they'll still be paying for the program through their taxes. I'm writing this with only a little knowledge of everything so I could be completely wrong..... guess I'll find out sooner or later. Vegas 06/08/2009
Rob and I went to Vegas last weekend. It was a good trip. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay hotel on the strip. It was fun to walk around. We did some of the attractions like the Shark Reef and some animal thing with lions and tigers. We also went to see Mystere, a Cirque Du Soleil show. We were in the very front row. A person was doing a handstand and I could've knocked him right over if I wanted. 3 years 06/03/2009
